American director and actor Rob Reiner, the son of famous comedy master Carl Reiner and actress Estelle Reiner, was born in the Bronx in 1945.

His sister Annie, born in 1949, is a playwright and his brother Lucas, born in 1960, is a director and photographer. Rob Reiner moved to Los Angeles with his family when he was 12 years old and started acting in regional theaters here. The director, who studied drama at UCLA, wrote the show program "The Smothers Brother’s Comedy Hour".

Reiner, who had his first cinema experience as an actor, starred in the movie "Enter Laughing", which focuses on his father's life. Later, the actor, who appeared in various films in various roles, made his first serious and remarkable project by playing in the TV series "All in the Family". Reiner, who played for 8 years in the series he started in 1971, won an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor twice. He managed to create his own fan base with the character Meathead in the series.

Reiner, who seriously directed directing in the 1980s, experienced his first directing experience with the 1984 "This is Spinal Tap". Reiner filming an imaginary documentary of an imaginary rock band called Spinal Tap in the film, he signed one of the most successful mockumentary examples in history. In the following years, he proved himself in directing films such as "Stand By Me" (1986) and "The Princess Bride" (1987). He directed "When Harry Met Sally", one of the most successful romantic-comedies in the history of cinema, in 1988. In the film "A Few Good Men", an army-court drama, she worked with a famous cast that includes Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, and Demi Moore.

After directing three romantic comedies "The Story of Us", "Alex and Emma", "Rumor Has It", he directed the movie "The Bucket List", which brought Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman together in 2007. For most of his career, he directed romantic-comedy or comedy-oriented films that can address a wide range of ages.

In 1971 he married one of his filmmates, Penny Marshall. Reiner, who raised his daughter Tracy, who was born in 1964 from Marshall's relationship with Michael Henry, as his own child and gave his last name, separated his ways with Marshall in 1981. Married to photographer Michele Singer in 1989, Reiner's 3 children, Jake (1991), Nick (1993) and Romy, were born.
